Mustangs Split With Eagles

Conway, Ark. – Playing for the second consecutive day, Central Baptist College baseball begin their final American Midwest Conference series of the season tonight with a doubleheader against Williams Baptist University at Victory Field. CBC (33-13, 13-7 AMC) split with the Eagles (27-17, 9-11 AMC) falling in game one 3-2 before winning game two 16-1 in a run rule.
GAME ONE – WBU 3, CBC 2
Williams Baptist got on the board first in game one, plating a run in the top of the second to lead 1-0. Ryan Dauphinee's solo shot in the second inning, his fourth of the season, knotted the score at one apiece. A sacrifice fly in the third inning put the Mustangs behind 2-1 before Jalen Hicks would groundout to tie the game in the fourth. A sixth inning home run by the Eagles made it 3-2 and CBC couldn't push a run across in the seventh despite having a runner on with one out. Jackson Pope struck out six over six innings, allowing eight hits and three runs while Josh Albat retired the side in order in the seventh.
GAME TWO – CBC 16, WBU 1 (SEVEN INNINGS)
CBC started game two off with a bang as Cade McBride homered to leadoff the inning, Jacori Hicks grounded out to first to plate another run and Austin Teal homered to make it 3-0 after one. In the second, CBC sent 13 men to the plate and scored nine runs to lead 12-0 after two. Following an inning opening pop out, Chett McDaniel and Kevin Gutierrez opened the scoring with back-to-back home runs to extend the lead to 5-0. Luke McBride would single two batters later and Jacori Hicks followed with a single of his own to put two on. Ruben Hernandez made it 6-0 with a single and Teal followed him with an RBI single of his own and an error to make it 8-0. Dauphinee followed with another single before Brennan Duhe's double made it 10-0 before McDaniel launched his second home run of the inning, this time a two-run blast, to cap the inning. Following a scoreless third, CBC got two more in the fourth on bases loaded walks to Jacori Hicks and Hernandez. WBU broke through for their only hit and run against Gram Middleton in the fifth to make it 14-1 before the Mustangs wrapped up the scoring in the fifth on a single by McDaniel and a single by Cade McBride. Middleton was dominant the entire night, firing a complete game one-hitter, allowing just one run on three walks with seven Ks.

CBC will cap the regular season on Friday with Senior Day at Conway Christian against Williams Baptist. Festivities begin at 10:30 with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
