Hot Springs, Ark. – Playing out of the American Midwest Conference for the final time this season, Central Baptist College baseball took on Champion Christian for the fifth time this year at Majestic Park. CBC (32-12) took 11 innings to beat the Tigers 9-8.
CBC plated a run in the first on a groundout by Jacori Hicks to make it 1-0. Champion would tie the game in the second but CBC retook the lead in the third after Hicks tripled and scored later in the inning and then Jaxon Kirkhuff scored on a single by Ian Velazquez to make it 3-1. CCC then took a 5-3 lead in the bottom half of the inning before CBC tied the game in the top of the fourth on another hit by Hicks and an error by the Champion catcher. Champion took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth before a two-run Ruben Hernandez blast in the sixth made it 7-6 CBC. Champion would tie the game in the bottom half and the Mustangs would trail CCC 8-7 after seven. A double by Chett McDaniel in the eighth tied the game at eight and set up the first extra inning game of the season for CBC. Following scoreless ninth and 10th innings, McDaniel led off the 11th with a single, stole second base, then moved to third on a ground out and scored on a single by Ayden Qualls. Jackson Lindsey would nail down the save in the 11th, allowing just one hit in the inning.
