Hannibal, Mo. – Looking to finish an American Midwest Conference series sweep for the third time this season, Central Baptist College baseball took on the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange this afternoon in a doubleheader at Hannibal High School. CBC (31-12, 12-6 AMC) finished the sweep, allowing runs in only one inning all weekend, beating HLGU (9-25, 4-14 AMC) 3-0 and 12-2.
GAME TWO – CBC 3, HLGU 0
CBC put the game away early, scoring twice in the first on a stolen base by Cade McBride and a single by Jacori Hicks. After a pair of scoreless innings, Cade McBride's sac fly in the fourth made it 3-0 and provided more than enough support for Jackson Pope, who tossed a complete game six-hitter allowing just one walk while striking out nine and running CBC's scoreless inning streak to 14 in a row. The win in game one also gave CBC 30 victories for the first time since 2018.
GAME THREE – CBC 12, HLGU 2
Neither team scored in the first two innings before the Mustangs struck for seven in the third. Luke McBride singled in the first run of the inning and an error made it 2-0. A groundout by Ryan Dauphinee stretched the lead to 3-0 before an RBI single by Chett McDaniel made it 4-0. Jaxon Kirkhuff followed with a two-run double to make it 6-0 and Kevin Gutierrez rounded out the scoring with single. Two more runs crossed the plate in the fourth, the first on a bases loaded walk to Ruben Hernandez and the second on a fielder's choice. HLGU plated two runs in the fourth, the only inning they scored all weekend while CBC got a run in the sixth on an error, a run in the seventh on a single by Luke McBride and a run in the eighth on a single by Cole Garcia. Rhett James started and went three innings, allowing two runs on four hits with a pair of walks and five Ks. Jackson Lindsey got the win in relief, throwing four innings and allowing just two hits and a walk also with five Ks while Brennan Duhe threw the final inning and faced the minimum.
