Columbia, Mo. – Looking to salvage a game in their American Midwest Conference series this afternoon, Central Baptist College baseball took on the Columbia Cougars at Cougar Field. CBC (26-12, 9-6 AMC) couldn't pull off the task, falling to CC (32-10, 15-0 AMC) 9-3.
Columbia took the lead in the first inning on a single and CBC tied the game in the third on a single by Luke McBride. Columbia retook the lead in the bottom half 2-1 before Austin Teal hit an RBI groundout to make it 2-2 in the fourth. Columbia would then score four in the fifth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth to go up 9-2 before Rolando Rodriguez hit a pinch-hit home run in the ninth to take the score final.
CBC will be back in Arkansas on Tuesday when they host a doubleheader against the Eagles of Texas A&M-Texarkana. First pitch is scheduled for noon and the games will be played at the Maumelle Diamond Center Complex behind Maumelle Charter School.
