North Little Rock, Ark. – Looking to secure the sweep in their weekend American Midwest Conference series, Central Baptist College baseball hosted the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State this afternoon at DeSalvo Memorial Stadium. CBC (26-9, 9-3 AMC) trailed 9-1 through five and a half innings to HSSU (1-21, 0-12 AMC), but fought back to win 12-10 and complete the sweep.
Harris-Stowe started the scoring in the second with a double and added three in the third to make it 4-0 headed to the bottom half. In the bottom of the third, Austin Teal put the Mustangs on the board with a sac fly to make it 4-1. A home run in the fourth and three more in the sixth put Harris-Stowe ahead 9-1 before the Mustangs started the come back in the bottom of the inning. Chett McDaniel tripled home two runs to make it 9-3 and Ryan Dauphinee followed with a two-run home run, his second of the season, to make it 9-5 after six. A Ruben Hernandez single in the seventh made it 9-6 before an eighth inning home run put the deficit back to four at 10-6. CBC never quit, and finally grabbed the lead in the eighth, plating six runs. Jacori Hicks and Dauphinee were walked to start the inning and Hicks scored on a double by Danilo Taborda to make it 10-7. Teal then came up and laced a single up the middle to make it 10-9 and forced HSSU to make a pitching change. Following the pitching change, Luke McBride walked and Cade McBride singled on a bunt to load the bases. Hernandez would then hit a sac fly into the left field foul territory to tie the game at 10 before back-to-back walks to Jaxon Kirkhuff and McDaniel put CBC up 11-10. A sac fly by Hicks gave the Mustangs some insurance heading into the ninth. Jackson Lindsey got around a pair of one out singles in the ninth to secure the win for CBC, eclipsing their 2023 win total with the win today. Lindsey got the win in relief, throwing the final two innings and allowing two hits with one strikeout.

Tuesday's game with Champion Christian has been cancelled so the Mustangs are back on the field in Columbia, Mo., on Friday for the first two games of a three game set with the Columbia Cougars. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
