CBC Drops Doubleheader To SAGU

            Waxahachie, Texas – Heading on the road for the third straight weekend, Central Baptist College baseball took on the Lions of Southwestern Assemblies of God this afternoon at Lions Field. CBC (5-3) was swept in the doubleheader, dropping game one 23-6 and falling 11-2 in game two to SAGU (8-4).

GAME ONE – SAGU 23, CBC 6

            The Mustangs took an early lead in game one, scoring three runs in the second courtesy of an error and singles from Kevin Gutierrez and Jaxon Kirkhuff to make it 3-0 after one-and-a-half. Then, SAGU exploded, scoring 22 runs over the second, third, fourth and fifth innings before the Mustangs could score again. CBC's fourth run came on an RBI single by Jacori Hicks in the sixth and the final run was a two-run home run by Rolando Rodriguez, the first of his Mustang career.

GAME TWO – SAGU 11, CBC 2

            SAGU scored three in the first two innings and led 3-0 after two. The first Mustang run game on an RBI single by Ruben Hernandez in the third to make it 3-1. After SAGU made it 4-1 in the bottom half, Rodriguez homered for the second time in the doubleheader, this one a solo shot, to make it 4-2. After that, SAGU tacked on three in the fourth and four in the fifth.

UP NEXT

            CBC and SAGU wrap up their three-game series with one game tomorrow at the SAGU Athletic Complex. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
